NEIGHBORHOOD ISSUES ADDRESSED

Officers from the KDPS Community Policing Unit continue to attended their respective neighborhood meetings where they listened to residents express their concerns of how to improve the quality of Life in their neighborhood.
In response to the citizens concerns, the Community Policing Unit focused their attention to address these issues for the better of the community in which they serve.
This past month the Unit has received several complaints from residents about large crowds, fighting, drug dealing, and excessive noise in the 1000 blk of both N Church and N Westnedge streets.
This past weekend June 26-28th several Officers from the Community Policing unit spent in access of thirty hours on foot patrol in these areas to assist residents with their concerns. While patrolling this area Officers were faced with very large crowds, fights, excessive noise, rock and bottle throwing in which patrol cars were damaged.
Community Policing Officers Ken Skibbe, Gretchen Mayo, Jeremy Schaffer, and John Halder targeted these areas making 13 physical arrests, with a total of 23 charges applied to the individuals taken into custody.
