KVET Officers Seize $3000 Worth of Powder Cocaine
Kalamazoo, MI: On Friday, May 2, 2008 at approximately 8:30 PM, officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2500 block of Logan St, in City of Kalamazoo. The search produced approximately $3,000.00 worth of powder cocaine.
Following up on several anonymous tips, KVET officers developed cause to believe a Kalamazoo resident, recently released from parole for a prior drug charge, was selling cocaine from his home. Officers located two 26 year-old males inside the home at the time of the search warrant.
Officers seized suspected powder cocaine on the kitchen counter when the warrant was executed. The seized cocaine was found inside a plastic bag along with digital scales, packaging material, and a cutting agent. A cutting agent is commonly used to increase the amount of actual product, thus increasing profit from sales.
Also located on the coffee table was suspected marijuana. The second 26 year-old Kalamazoo resident was in possession of several unknown prescription pills. Several items were seized as drug proceeds including an SUV, motorcycle, laptop computer, television, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, lawn equipment, and numerous electronic equipment.
Charges, including Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, and sales of controlled substances in a drug free school zone, are pending against both males.
Anyone with information regarding illegal drug or firearms activity is urged to contact KVET at 269-337-8880, or report an anonymous tip to Silent Observer at 269-343-2100 or www.kalamazoosilentobserver.com
