National Public Safety Telecommunications Week

Kalamazoo, MI:

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week celebrates the hard work our dispatchers deliver for our community every day.

The number 9-1-1 is universally recognized as the telephone number everyone calls to report emergencies. In the City of Kalamazoo, the Integrated Dispatch Center serves as the focal point for county-wide Police, Fire and Emergency Medical dispatching services.

Our dispatchers actively assist in the saving of lives, the apprehension of criminals, as well as the prevention of property loss and provide these services in a compassionate and professional manner.  They are the first voice callers hear when they require assistance.

They balance a demanding workload. They liaise between the public and the emergency service providers. They are intermediaries for a number of responsibilities, all the while handling the routine calls for service, the traffic stops, the computer checks on vehicles and persons and property.

In recognition of the daily efforts they put forth to get us the help we require, please take the opportunity to thank them for their service.
