Burglary Suspect Apprehended

Kalamazoo, MI:  On April 25, 2008 at approximately 2:20 a.m. Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the Quick Stop at 3645 W. Michigan in reference to a burglary alarm.  The first officers on scene determined that entry had been made into the store and merchandise taken.  Efforts to locate the suspect at the time were unsuccessful.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. the same morning two residents of an apartment in the 4100 block of W. Michigan called in to report that a subject stole a bag of returnable cans from their porch.  They chased the subject from their property and into the woods directly behind them.

Officer Hubbell responded to the area and located the suspect who briefly attempted to flee on foot.  He was arrested on scene and the cans returned to the resident.  Unfortunately for the suspect, Hubbell was the same officer that viewed the surveillance video from the Quick Stop burglary.  Hubbell immediately recognized the can thief as the suspect from the burglary.

The 46 year old Kalamazoo resident was arrested on felony charges and was also wanted on a parole violation.  He was lodged in the Kalamazoo county jail
